WIRE SOPHIA presents "Ground Control to Major Tom" - Tuesday, February 22 19.30
After the highly successful show with" Frames of a sequence of love " Sophia returns the thread with a great evening, entitled "Ground Control to Major Tom" (homage to the music of David Bowie), dedicated to the fusion of cinema, art and music.
The carnet of evening is really rich:
-screening of the film Moon Duncan Jones (aka Zowie Bowie) with a presentation by Robert Interdonato;
-shows "Preview an illustrated novel ", edited by Romano and Raffaele De Carlo Gallo;
-DJ sets curated by Roberto Interdonato;
-eat & drink free.
Some more information on the film by Duncan Jones, a novice filmmaker, son of David Bowie, released in 2009:
energy on Earth is no longer a problem, the Lunar has found a way to generate cleanly and not harmful exploiting the material they are made of rocks on the dark side of the Moon. A supervise the work of machines has been given a base on the natural satellite of Earth inhabited only by a computer-rounder by the human voice and a man, alone, almost at the end of his three long years of the contract and increasingly the victim of jokes fatigue and loneliness bring him. It will be a near-fatal accident to disrupt the mechanism of deception that lies behind his work unexpectedly putting it in contact with another self.
Jones shows good to know that science fiction is inside the head of the viewer, who does not like the spaceships in itself but that infinite and mysterious wilderness of space silent within which they move, which forces people to go to the roots of the concept of "humanity" by reviewing the relationship they have with others or with machines. And this is the most pleasant thing of Moon: finally find that the space becomes not so much a theater of action and war, but the last great unknown location, the only one of which is still possible to imagine or fear of finding aliens in the middle between the organic and inorganic forces materialize individual thoughts or even the boundaries of physics and the origin of man.
Standing on the shoulders of giants Jones looks farther than others making us breathe the air of the best movies and reserves the right (all contemporary) to a different vision of the dialectic between man and machine (and in great spirit and matter).
